Sidmouth Seasons - coming soon.

Sidmouth Seasons Neil's third book of paintings in and around Sidmouth was a project undertaken during the Covid pandemic lockdown 2020-21.

As the weeks of restrictions turned to months, normal life changed for Neil since, as he works overseas and travel was not possible, he found he had more time for painting than usual.

By the end of July, having completed four paintings, the idea of completing several paintings for each month took shape. Initially the plan was to do three paintings for each month. However, when it became clear that lockdown and the pandemic was going to last many more months three paintings for each month turned into four.

Using sketches and photographs, some from pre-lockdown and the majority taken during, the project has evolved gradually and aims to show a personal view of the changing colours, weather, seasons and feelings of the amazing environment where we are lucky enough to live.

A reoccurrence in September 2020 of an unusual kidney complaint, a spell in hospital and a lengthy recuperation gave more thinking time and a greater appreciation of the wonderful shapes, colours and sounds of the natural world.

Each painting is a memory, a feeling or an element of family life with a fond recollection of the pleasure in the act of creating a finished image.
